So how did the Spring Art on-line auction and charity Salon go?
Well, in the end ETC did all right - not as big as we might have hoped when we started working on the idea of an art auction and salon. But, we opened on 24 May 2021 with a welldone site featuring art in about six categories including new art, original art, time art, photographic art, music art and the like. 34 pieces were documented and there were 25 multiple-copy elements. In the end the process needed a lot of promotion, as the number of things to do and see on line was obviously inflated with the global pandemic. Our actual participation rate was one person in every 70 visitors to the site, and we had about 2200 visitors. But donations also helped and in the end we garnered a net benefit of some $13,000. Thanks of course to all those who bid and donated, and those who just gave us a generous cash gift!
And what is this money now going towards?
Eclipse has a full basket of activities for the summer. It has already done a great workshop for Evangeline together with the Festival Players , a Ted Dystra music that won great applause when it opened in Charlottetown some years ago. There is more on that under Events. And we are getting ready to launch the New Music Works Festival before end-August with a tremendous filmed product of original songs about the last 18 months - with the songs coming from a long list of great Canadian writers and performers. Then in September ETC is scheduled to host a staged production or reading of Call It love at the Stratford Perth County Museum performance spaces. It will all be grand.
